Health Sector Coordination Meeting Addresses Flood Response

A coordination meeting was held at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSRC) to discuss the ongoing response to recent floods and related health challenges in the country. The session, chaired by the Director General of Health, brought together representatives from the United Nations, various development partners, and provincial health focal points to assess current needs and collaborative efforts.
During the meeting, participants shared updates on partner activities and highlighted the specific difficulties being faced at the provincial level. The Ministry of NHSRC drew attention to a growing cholera situation, referencing findings from the Technical Working Group (TWG), and formally requested assistance from the World Health Organization to manage the outbreak.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the nutritional needs in flood-affected regions. Officials solicited feedback from the nutrition section to better understand and respond to emerging challenges, and appealed for ongoing partner support to bolster relief and recovery efforts for impacted communities.
