Pakistan Launches AI Regulatory Sandbox to Empower Innovators

Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has announced the launch of AI Regulatory Sandboxes aimed at accelerating innovation in Pakistan’s technology sector. The initiative will serve as a secure and adaptable environment where innovators can test artificial intelligence solutions, while also providing support for up to 50 companies by 2027.

Key elements of the program include the development of essential infrastructure such as compute grids, data centers, and AI repositories. This foundational framework is designed to enhance the country’s capacity for advanced AI research and development.

The project places a strong emphasis on fostering both innovation and global collaboration to bolster Pakistan’s AI ecosystem. With these measures in place, Pakistan aims to produce 50 new AI models annually, positioning itself as a significant player in the region’s technology landscape.
