Expanding Islamabad Safe City for Faster Response
On January 26, 2026, Chairman Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa chaired a meeting at CDA headquarters attended by IG Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, CDA Member Admin Talat Mahmood and senior officers from CDA, district administration and Islamabad Police to review security and law and order arrangements in the federal capital.
A comprehensive briefing outlined the planned extension of the Islamabad Safe City project, covering detailed timelines, revised design elements and the procurement of modern equipment. Officials examined the technical and operational steps needed to expand CCTV coverage across key corridors and improve situational awareness for responding agencies.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the M-Tag in Islamabad and how the system will integrate with the Islamabad Safe City network to strengthen vehicle monitoring, streamline checks and support faster incident response across the capital.
IG Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said a zero-tolerance policy against criminal elements is being enforced and highlighted measures already under way, including increased police patrols, snap checking and continuous monitoring through CCTV cameras. He added that the use of modern technology has helped reduce emergency response times.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed installation of additional CCTV cameras on the capital’s entry and exit routes and ordered an increase in patrolling within the city to deter crime and enhance public safety.
The Chief Commissioner instructed all relevant agencies to ensure coordinated communication and to leverage modern technology to further strengthen law and order. Emphasis was placed on inter-agency cooperation to ensure the timely implementation of project milestones.
Mr. Randhawa said that, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, all available resources will be mobilised to make Islamabad a crime-free city, reaffirming that providing a peaceful and secure environment for residents of the federal capital remains a top priority.
