Minister Inspects Flood Damaged Gas Pipeline
Ali Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister for Petroleum, visited Jalalpur Pirwala to examine a 36-inch diameter gas pipeline that was damaged during recent floods. He conducted an on-site inspection accompanied by Federal Secretary for Petroleum Momin Agha, the Managing Director of SNGPL and other senior officials to assess the extent of the impact.
The minister emphasized that public safety and convenience remain the government’s top priority and said all relevant departments are on high alert. As a precautionary step, the affected section of the gas pipeline was isolated promptly to prevent any risk to life or property amid the ongoing flood threat.
Authorities have ensured uninterrupted gas supply through an alternative pipeline while repair planning is underway. The Petroleum Minister instructed SNGPL management to maintain continuous monitoring of the transmission network so any disruption to the gas pipeline caused by flood conditions can be addressed without delay.
Aamir Karim Khan, Commissioner Multan, briefed the minister on relief and rescue operations in Jalalpur Pirwala and confirmed that restoration work on the damaged section of the motorway is being carried out round the clock with heavy machinery. The coordinated response aims to restore ground connectivity at the earliest and support logistics for repair crews working on the gas pipeline.
Federal and local teams remain engaged in assessment and restoration efforts, balancing immediate safety measures with steps to re-establish full gas transmission and transport links in the affected area.
