Private Schools Network Strengthens Islamabad Education

Dr Muhammad Afzal Babar, founder and central president of the Private Schools Network, said low-income private educational institutions operating on a self-help basis are playing a vital role in national education and that achieving Islamabad’s literacy targets cannot be accomplished by any government alone.

Speaking at the Turnol Zone election ceremony, he highlighted that the Private Schools Network has for 26 years provided quality education to a new generation while also offering dignified employment to thousands of young people across the country.

Dr Babar urged members to give practical support to the agenda of the newly elected zonal representatives, stressing that unity and cooperation are essential for progress in the education sector and for strengthening the impact of private initiatives in Islamabad.

In the Turnol Zone polls, Imtiaz Ali Khan was once again elected president and Shafiq Ahmed secured the post of general secretary for an three-year term. Sonia Faraz and Raheel Yusuf were chosen as senior vice presidents, Zahid Mahmood as vice president, Mohammad Rashid as liaison secretary, Sanaaullah as information secretary and Mohammad Atiq as finance secretary.

Coordinators Noon Sharif Mohammad Nazabat and Jhangi Syedan Mohammad Sadiq were also elected to support zonal activities, while the election commissioner duties were performed by central general secretary Maqbool Hussain Dar. The new leadership was urged to focus on strengthening the Private Schools Network’s initiatives for low-income schools and expanding access to quality education in Islamabad.
