Government Strengthens Dengue Response Efforts
A high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal reviewed the current dengue situation and the government’s dengue response across Islamabad and other affected areas. The Federal Secretary Health, Additional Secretary, Director General Health, Joint Secretary Health and the District Health Officer Islamabad attended the session to assess progress and coordinate next steps.
Officials were briefed on the pattern of spread, the latest case numbers and the ongoing containment measures. The meeting focused on ensuring rapid detection and treatment as part of a strengthened dengue response, with particular attention to districts showing rising incidence following recent heavy rains.
The Federal Minister directed that dengue prevention campaigns be intensified and that dedicated wards be established in hospitals to manage dengue patients. He ordered health facilities to guarantee the availability of medicines, sufficient beds and diagnostic capacity so that the dengue response is timely and effective across public and private sectors.
Special measures are being rolled out in high-risk localities, including Bhara Kahu, where district teams will step up surveillance, targeted spraying and precautionary interventions. Public awareness campaigns will be expanded to ensure communities understand preventive steps and recognise symptoms early as part of the broader dengue response.
The Minister urged district administrations to accelerate improvements to sanitation systems to reduce mosquito breeding sites and called on citizens to follow Ministry of Health guidelines for prevention. He also underlined that media and civil society should contribute actively to raising awareness and supporting community-level action.
Federal Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal stressed that the protection of public health is the government’s top priority and affirmed that all available resources will be used to safeguard people from epidemics and diseases while sustaining an integrated dengue response across affected regions.
