Strengthening Pakistan Bahrain Ties with Parliamentary Briefing

The inaugural briefing of the Pakistan–Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group convened in Islamabad under the leadership of Ms. Asia Naz Tanoli, MNA, featuring detailed presentations from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce. The session brought together senior parliamentarians and ministry officials to map out practical steps for deeper parliamentary cooperation and bilateral engagement.

Participants included Federal Minister Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Ch. Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Haji Rasool Bux Chandio, Pullain Baloch, and Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, who joined virtually. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Bahrain, Saqib Rauf, also took part via video link as briefers and officials outlined recent diplomatic initiatives and the current status of bilateral relations.

Discussion focused on parliamentary cooperation, recent diplomatic engagements, strategic foreign policy priorities, and opportunities and challenges in trade and investment. Emphasis was placed on identifying areas where parliamentary channels can support government efforts to expand economic ties and promote people-to-people links between Pakistan and Bahrain.

Speakers expressed appreciation for the role of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in facilitating the recent parliamentary delegation visit to Bahrain and commended its proactive engagement. Rana Mubashir Iqbal urged the Group to pursue new investment opportunities with priority in agricultural and business sectors, while the Convener requested the overseas mission to arrange a virtual meeting with Bahraini parliamentary counterparts to build sustained cooperation.

Members resolved to extend comprehensive support to Pakistan’s diplomatic missions, establish formal channels of communication with the Bahraini Parliament, and promote strengthened government-to-government and people-to-people interactions. The Parliamentary Friendship Group committed to follow up on these measures and to keep Pakistan Bahrain ties at the centre of its work going forward.

The meeting record was noted by Khaldoon Khan Jadoon, Assistant Director (PFG), as the Group prepared next steps for virtual engagements and bilateral parliamentary exchanges.
