Punjab Launches School Nutrition Drive with UNICEF
Under the Chief Minister Punjab’s Food Safety Mission, Punjab Food Authority has launched the School Nutrition Program Phase II across 40 schools in Lahore, with UNICEF partnering to support implementation of nutrition and well‑being activities.
Director General Punjab Food Authority Asim Javaid said every child will be provided with safe, nutritious food alongside essential awareness to ensure a healthier and stronger future. He emphasized that the program will combine meal quality standards with practical education for students and school staff.
The School Nutrition initiative aims to strengthen food safety practices, promote balanced nutrition and raise health awareness among schoolchildren, paving the way for a nourished and brighter generation in Punjab. Activities under the program include monitoring food safety standards and delivering age‑appropriate nutrition messages to students and caregivers.
The Phase II rollout in Lahore reflects the province’s continued commitment to child health under the Food Safety Mission, with Punjab Food Authority and UNICEF coordinating efforts to make safe, balanced meals and nutrition awareness standard features of school life.
