Empowering Citizens with Right to Information in Sanghar

Transparency International Pakistan partnered with the Sindh Green Foundation (SGF) to host a seminar on the Right to Information in District Sanghar, bringing together community members, representatives from civil society organisations, journalists, youth and government officers from several departments.

Expert speakers guided participants through the provisions of the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act 2016 and demonstrated practical steps for preparing and submitting RTI requests. The session emphasised how the Right to Information empowers citizens to access public records and seek answers from local authorities.

The seminar fostered constructive dialogue between civil society and government officials, with departmental officers outlining their transparency procedures and attendees raising issues relevant to Sanghar. This exchange aimed to strengthen civic participation and improve the responsiveness of local institutions.

Organisers highlighted that building skills to use the Right to Information is a key step towards better oversight and service delivery. Participants left equipped to submit RTI requests and engage more confidently with public bodies, reflecting a broader push to make governance in Sindh more transparent and accountable.
