Dengue Control Efforts in Islamabad High Risk Areas

The District Health Office in Islamabad, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Health Services and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, has launched special dengue prevention activities in high-risk zones of Union Council Bhara Kahu. The initiative, led by Dengue Focal Person Dr. Mazhar and entomologist Aizaz Khan, included a comprehensive dengue control operation aimed at reducing the spread of the virus.
As part of the operation, teams conducted door-to-door surveillance, implemented larva control measures, carried out indoor spraying, and organized awareness campaigns to educate residents about dengue prevention. More than 900 households were inspected during these activities, with teams searching for mosquito breeding sites and ensuring proper precautionary actions were taken.
The District Health Office has assured the public that its teams are continuing effective surveillance and rapid response efforts across the city to minimize the threat of a dengue outbreak. Residents are being urged to adopt preventive practices, such as cleaning water containers, tanks, flower pots, coolers, and refrigerator trays daily. Wearing long-sleeved clothing, using mosquito repellents and sprays, and sleeping under mosquito nets, particularly during the night, are recommended. The public is also encouraged to install mesh screens on doors and windows to prevent mosquitoes from entering homes.
Authorities emphasize that preventing dengue is a collective responsibility and that by following these guidelines, the community can protect itself from the disease.
