A delegation of vice chancellors and faculty from Gaza universities visited Quaid i Azam University under an OIC-Comstech facilitated programme to explore academic and research collaboration. The delegation was given a detailed briefing on institutional departments, research activities, global rankings and international partnerships by Professor Dr Muhammad Ishtiaq Ali, Chair of Microbiology and Director ORIC.
The Vice Chancellor of Quaid i Azam University, Professor Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar Sitara-i-Imtiaz, addressed the visitors and assured full support for Palestinian students and academics in educational and research fields. He confirmed that several Palestinian students are already enrolled at the university and pledged to expand scholarship opportunities so they can continue their studies without interruption.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted priority areas for joint work including IT, medicine, biological sciences, social sciences and natural sciences and formally designated Professor Dr Muhammad Ishtiaq Ali as the ORIC focal person to coordinate future collaborative projects. Quaid i Azam University expressed readiness to develop joint research and academic programmes with Gaza institutions to strengthen institutional ties.
The Palestinian delegation warmly thanked the university leadership, administration and faculty for their hospitality and support, noting that such cooperation would deepen scholarly and research relations between the institutions. The visiting group included delegates from Al-Aqsa University, the University of Palestine, Gaza University, Islamic University of Gaza, University of Gaza and Isra University, represented by academics including Professor Ayman M.F. Sob, Professor Salim A.I. Sabah, Professor Ibrahim A.M. Abu Rahma, Professor Deyrous Mustafa, Professor Nouha A.M. Najim and Dr Moneia Al Jawad.
Quaid i Azam University participants in the meeting included the Dean of Natural Sciences Professor Dr Tasawwur Hayat, the Dean of Biological Sciences Professor Dr Irfan Zia, senior faculty from relevant departments, Comstech focal person and coordinator Mortaza Noor and Media Coordinator Shabbir Hussain. All attendees reaffirmed institutional commitment to robust academic cooperation and joint research initiatives involving Quaid i Azam University and Gaza universities.
