Youth Human Rights Training Empowers Bonded Workers
SPARC project team for the Empowering Bonded Laborers initiative took part in the 16th Participatory Course on Democracy and Human Rights, engaging in three days of focused discussions, learning, and collaboration to strengthen youth-led efforts for peace and inclusion. The course provided a platform for participants to deepen their understanding of democratic principles and human rights while centring the needs of bonded workers.
Throughout the sessions, the team explored approaches to support young leaders from vulnerable communities, emphasising practical strategies that can be applied in local contexts. Conversations highlighted the role of youth in promoting inclusive practices, building community trust, and advocating for the rights of bonded workers within democratic frameworks.
For Pakistan’s civil society and grassroots networks, this exchange reinforces the importance of sustained training and peer collaboration. SPARC’s participation brought local insights to the course and gathered new tools to better support bonded workers through awareness, community engagement, and rights-based programming.
Moving forward, the project team will integrate lessons learned from the course into ongoing activities to empower youth voices and advance peaceful inclusion for bonded workers, ensuring that the focus on human rights and democratic participation remains central to their work.
