Police Drones to Reach Incidents First
Safe City Authority has launched a pilot for police drones and has begun test runs as part of a new rapid response system in Lahore. Under the pilot, drones will be dispatched automatically when an emergency ’15’ call is received, aiming to arrive at scenes ahead of first responders.
The police drones will collect real-time video evidence from the scene, providing immediate situational awareness to command centres. This automated deployment is designed to speed up incident assessment and preserve visual records before officers reach the location.
Initially, the drones will operate within a 15 kilometre radius and will be used to assist during traffic blockages, protests or other emergency situations where quick aerial reconnaissance can improve operational response. The introduction of police drones seeks to support on-ground teams with rapid information flow and clearer evidence collection.
The Safe City Authority said the project will enhance immediate response capabilities and offer new methods for gathering admissible video evidence. Test runs will help fine-tune launch protocols and flight corridors so the drones can respond reliably to emergency ’15’ calls.
Officials expect police drones to play an important role in maintaining law and order in Lahore by reducing the time needed to assess incidents and by strengthening the information available to officers on arrival. Continued testing will determine the next steps for wider deployment and integration with existing emergency systems.
