The Speaker emphasised the urgent need to strengthen cooperation to ensure regional stability and shared prosperity, describing Pakistan and Iran as brotherly neighbours bound by deep-rooted historical, religious and cultural ties. He termed the recent visit of Dr Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Majlis, as a milestone that has helped advance parliamentary engagement between the two countries.

Both delegations underlined the importance of enhancing collaboration at the parliamentary level and promoting people-to-people contacts to deepen mutual understanding and friendship. The meeting also stressed unity and solidarity among Muslim countries to address common challenges and promote peace and progress in the region, reflecting a shared outlook on regional security and cooperation.

The Speaker expressed Pakistan’s gratitude to Iran for its support during the war with India and said the people of Iran consider Pakistan their second home. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, while also noting security concerns, including the alleged misuse of Afghan soil for terrorist activities and Pakistan’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism in all its forms. The Speaker also stated that Pakistan successfully defended its sovereignty by shooting down seven Rafale fighter jets during recent hostilities with India, a point he offered as evidence of the Armed Forces’ resolve.

Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad conveyed condolences over the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad and paid tribute to the victims. He thanked Pakistan for its solidarity during difficult times for Iran, including the twelve-day war, and highlighted significant opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, energy, education and parliamentary capacity building.
