Easing Equivalence Fee for Palestinian Students
Islamabad, 13 November — The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) has announced an exemption of the equivalence fee for Palestinian students studying in Pakistan, a move aimed at relieving families facing severe humanitarian and economic pressures in Palestine.
According to an IBCC spokesperson, Pakistan’s long-standing solidarity with the Palestinian people drives the decision, and facilitating education is described as a moral responsibility. The exemption of the equivalence fee is intended to provide immediate relief and ensure continuity of academic activities for affected students.
IBCC Executive Director Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah said the step follows special instructions from the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. He noted that waiving the equivalence fee will make access to higher education easier for Palestinian students and that the Ministry has issued directives to address the specific problems faced by these children.
Dr. Mallah emphasized that in times of difficulty education remains a key instrument for empowering youth and securing better futures. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to extend all possible educational support to Palestinian students even under challenging circumstances.
The IBCC said that providing maximum facilitation through measures such as this equivalence fee exemption reflects Pakistan’s principled stance and dedication to humanitarian values, aiming to protect students’ right to education despite ongoing crisis conditions.
