Leaders Attend Chaudhry Iftikhar Funeral Prayer
A broad cross-section of political and social figures gathered in Rawalpindi to perform the namaz-e-janaza for the late Chaudhry Iftikhar. The deceased was the father of Chaudhry Saad-ul-Haq Chohan, who is linked with central figures of the Awam Pakistan Party including Chaudhry Inam Zafar and Chaudhry Wajid Ikram, and the funeral drew notable attendance from across the local political spectrum.
Senior Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leaders were present, including former senator Chaudhry Muhammad Tanveer Khan. Prominent attendees from the city’s political and legal communities included Pirzada Rahat Masood Qadusi, Hafiz Usman Abbasi, Raja Mushtaq, Atiq Sarwar and Dr. Shafiq, alongside counsels Nadeem Bhatti and Umair Cheema. The gathering also saw participation from former Chaklala Cantt vice president Raja Irfan Imtiaz and former chairman Shahid Pappu.
Other leaders who offered prayers and paid respects included Maqbool Ahmad Khan, Yasir Butt, Ilyas Subhani, Shehbaz Goshi and Faisal Awan. Local party and civic representatives such as former councillors Shabbir Ahmad, Hafiz Akram, Saif Rehman, Malik Sher, Mon Bhai and Chaudhry Azhar Rasheed were present, as were Cantt Board member Haji Parvez Akhtar, former chairman Haji Jamil Akhtar and Nazir Kashmiri.
The turnout underscored the community’s respect for Chaudhry Iftikhar and highlighted continuing ties between local leadership and larger party structures. Attendees from different political backgrounds stood together during the funeral prayer, reflecting a moment of solidarity in Rawalpindi as family and colleagues honored the deceased.
