Gilgit Walk Promotes MR Vaccination Campaign
An awareness walk in Gilgit organized by the District Health Office aimed to strengthen community support for the upcoming Measles-Rubella campaign and stress the importance of timely MR vaccination for children. The event on November 14, 2025 brought together health officials and local partners to encourage parents to protect their children.
The march was led by the Director EPI Gilgit-Baltistan, the Director Services and the District Health Officer Gilgit, with active participation from the WHO team. Supervisors, skilled personnel, frontline health workers and media representatives joined the walk to amplify the campaign message across neighbourhoods and markets.
Participants carried MR campaign banners and delivered a clear, consistent message that the MR vaccine is essential for children’s health. Organisers urged parents to ensure their children receive the MR vaccination during the campaign period to reduce the risk of outbreaks in the district.
At the conclusion of the walk organisers and participants reaffirmed their commitment to fully support the MR vaccination campaign and to work together with communities to ensure successful implementation across Gilgit. The District Health Office said continued outreach and engagement will remain a priority as the campaign approaches.
