Championing Science Education at World Science Day

Ms. Farah Naz Akbar, Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, attended World Science Day 2025 as the event’s chief guest and engaged directly with students, faculty and leadership to reinforce the importance of science education.

She was received by Brigadier (R) Dr. Muhammad Hanif, S.I. (M), the institution’s principal, and accompanied by faculty members on a comprehensive campus tour. During the visit she received a detailed briefing on the institution’s academic programs, infrastructure and initiatives designed to strengthen access to quality education and practical learning in STEM fields.

In her remarks Ms. Farah Naz Akbar commended the school’s sustained efforts to nurture scientific curiosity, innovation and creativity among pupils, noting that such initiatives are central to broader national goals for science education and human capital development.

At the science exhibition students displayed innovative models and projects prepared to mark World Science Day, drawing praise for hands-on experimentation and problem-solving skills. The Parliamentary Secretary spent time with exhibitors, asking about their projects and encouraging further pursuit of research-based learning.

Ms. Farah Naz Akbar also visited the junior campus where she planted a tree as a visible commitment to environmental responsibility and interacted warmly with young learners. Her visit highlighted the role of early exposure to scientific concepts in shaping future researchers, technicians and innovators.

Reiterating the government’s educational priorities, she underscored that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif the Government of Pakistan remains committed to advancing scientific education, research and innovation so that young people are equipped with the knowledge and skills required for a knowledge-based society.
