Driving HVACR Innovation Through Student Expo 2025
The Lahore region edition of the HVACR Students Innovation Conference & Project Expo 2025 brought HVACR Innovation into sharp focus as students from leading Pakistani universities presented research and hands-on projects to industry and academia.
Organised by the Pakistan HVACR Society in partnership with the University of Central Punjab, the event followed the vision of Society President Engr. Ramzan Sharif to close the gap between classroom learning and real-world HVACR practice. The conference created a forum where practical solutions and academic research were evaluated side by side.
The ceremony featured Mr. Muhammad Afzaal Malik, Chairman Lahore Chapter of the Pakistan HVACR Society, as chief guest. He underscored how events like this accelerate HVACR Innovation by giving students practical exposure and by strengthening industry–academia collaboration. Mr. Tanseer Hussain, Mr. Waqas A. Farooqi, Mr. Muhammad Yaqoob (Provost UCP), Dr. Akhyar Farrukh (Director ORIC), Prof. Dr. Rizwan Shad and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kashif joined other professors and industry representatives to support the initiative and interact with participants.
Delegations from UET Lahore, UMT Lahore, University of Lahore, Superior University, University of the Punjab, PTUT Lahore and UCP Lahore actively participated, submitting nine research papers and exhibiting over ten innovative projects in the expo. The mix of theoretical work and applied prototypes illustrated how HVACR Innovation is evolving across Pakistani campuses.
A panel discussion on collaborative innovation explored practical pathways for academia and industry to co-develop solutions, address skills gaps and accelerate technology adoption in HVACR systems. Panelists from both sectors highlighted the need for sustained partnerships to turn student research into commercial outcomes that meet local needs.
During the expo, the chief guest visited project stalls and engaged directly with students, offering guidance and appreciation for their designs and prototypes. The event concluded with Mr. Muhammad Yaqoob presenting shields and cash prizes to top position holders, while distinguished guests received tokens of appreciation for their support.
Participants praised the Pakistan HVACR Society and the University of Central Punjab for organising an event that advances HVACR Innovation in Pakistan by giving young engineers a platform to learn, network and showcase solutions that can meet industry challenges. Special recognition was extended to the organising team and the students whose dedication made the expo a success.
