Children Welfare and Rights in Pakistan
In celebration of World Children’s Day, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, emphasized the vital importance of safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring their well-being. He highlighted that children are the architects of the nation’s future, and their protection, education, and empowerment must remain a collective priority for the state and society. The Speaker reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a secure, nurturing environment where children can realize their full potential.
In his statement, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq addressed the various challenges faced by children both in Pakistan and globally, including poverty, child labor, and violence. He expressed concern over these issues, noting that such hurdles hinder the growth and development of young individuals. To combat these problems, he emphasized the significance of legislative efforts, including the recent enactment of the Islamabad Child Marriage Restraint Act 2025, which aims to prevent underage marriages and promote a safer environment for children, especially girls.
The Speaker also highlighted the active role played by the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights, which is dedicated to advocating for children’s welfare across the country. This caucus contributes by shaping policies, raising awareness, and monitoring the effective implementation of laws designed to protect children’s rights. He stressed that a comprehensive National Roadmap for Child Welfare is essential to address key areas such as health, education, nutrition, and protection, ensuring a holistic approach to children’s development.
Furthermore, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq underscored the critical role of parents and teachers in shaping children’s character and guiding their growth. He called for better coordination and communication between families and educational institutions to create an enabling environment where every child can thrive. By working together, policymakers, educators, and families can foster conditions conducive to the holistic development of young citizens.
Reaffirming the authorities’ dedication, the Speaker concluded by emphasizing the government’s ongoing commitment to the welfare, protection, and empowerment of children across Pakistan, recognizing their pivotal role in shaping the future of the nation.
