HEC Strengthens Higher Education Data in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Higher Education Commission’s Higher Education Data Repository division held a two-day capacity-building and follow-up session on Higher Education Statistics and Affiliated Colleges Data at the HEC Regional Centre Peshawar, aimed at strengthening higher education data across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Participants included focal persons from public and private universities in the province and members of the HEDR team.

The workshop focused on building technical skills needed to produce accurate, consistent and timely higher education data for the 2023–24 and 2024–25 reporting cycles. Sessions combined presentations with hands-on support so that focal persons could align institutional records with national reporting requirements.

Dr. Bashir Khan, incharge of the HEDR Division, described reliable and timely data as the backbone of effective planning, informed decision making and policy formulation, and urged continued efforts to make the higher education system modern, integrated and data-driven.

The first day concentrated on affiliated colleges data, with the HEDR team delivering individualised technical assistance and on-the-spot troubleshooting tailored to each institution. That direct engagement helped universities identify outstanding areas, clarify reporting expectations and accelerate data submission.

By reinforcing practical data management and reporting skills at HEIs and their affiliated colleges, the programme has strengthened the National Higher Education Statistics Framework and underscored HEDR’s commitment to evidence-based decision making across Pakistan’s higher education sector.
