Serena Squash Championship Unites Global Players
The Pakistan Squash Federation in partnership with Serena Hotels staged the Chief of the Air Staff Serena Hotels International Squash Championship at Mushaf Squash Complex in Islamabad from 24 to 28 November 2025, drawing strong international participation and local talent under the Serena Squash banner.
A field of 24 competitors included seven Pakistani players alongside 17 world-ranked athletes representing the Czech Republic, Egypt, Hong Kong China, Japan, Malaysia and Switzerland, reflecting the event’s role in bringing global competitors to Pakistan and showcasing the growing depth of regional squash.
World No 43 Noor Zaman emerged as champion after a dramatic final against fellow Pakistani Muhammad Hamza Khan, World No 101. Noor Zaman recovered from a two-game deficit to win with a match score of 9-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-8, delivering a memorable comeback and thrilling the home crowd.
The closing ceremony on 28 November featured Air Marshal Kazim Hammad, President Pakistan Squash Federation, as chief guest who presented trophies and souvenirs. Air Vice Marshal Sohail Akbar, Senior Vice President PSF, Mr Fahim Inam, Chief Operating Officer Serena Hotels, squash legend Qamar Zaman, VP PSF Dr Riaz Khan, President Sindh SA Adnan Asad, along with players, officials and squash supporters attended to celebrate the competition’s success.
The event underscored Serena Hotels’ Sports Diplomacy Initiative and its commitment to using sporting events to build bridges between nations while promoting Pakistan as a venue for world-class competition. The Serena Squash tournament in Islamabad further cements the country’s place on the international squash calendar and highlights opportunities for future high-profile events.
