Advancing Business and Human Rights in Pakistan
The Ministry of Human Rights, in collaboration with the ILO, organized provincial workshops in Quetta and Karachi to focus on Business and Human Rights and CECAR reporting. The events brought together government officials, civil society actors and private sector representatives for focused dialogue on aligning business operations with human rights obligations.
Deputy Director MoHR Ms. Khaola Batool briefed participants on the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAP-BHR), Pakistan’s international reporting obligations and ongoing initiatives that promote responsible business practices, women’s economic empowerment and inclusive workplace policies. Her presentation highlighted practical steps for businesses and regulators to meet reporting standards while advancing workplace inclusion.
Participants discussed CECAR reporting requirements, shared challenges from different provincial contexts and developed practical recommendations to strengthen human rights compliance in company operations. Emphasis was placed on integrating women’s economic empowerment into business strategies and ensuring that reporting translates into tangible workplace improvements across sectors.
By linking policy guidance, international reporting and private sector engagement, the workshops aimed to mainstream Business and Human Rights across provincial governance and corporate practice in Pakistan, with follow-up measures planned to track implementation and support institutions at the provincial level.
