Rehbar Media Block Moves Forward with New Chair

The Rehbar Media Block housing project near the Chakri Interchange, launched three years ago with the support of Rehbar Welfare, has reached a new milestone as allotments and possession papers have been distributed to media professionals. The project, initiated by former Rawalpindi-Islamabad Photo Journalists Association president Sohail Malik, was intended to provide housing support to colleagues across the media industry.

Former association president Sohail Malik acknowledged the contributions of press club official Aamir Rafiq Butt, Agha Mehroz and Azhar Ali Khan in bringing the project to fruition. At a recent gathering to mark the handing over of possessions, Malik formally named Sheikh Abdul Waheed as chairman and patron-in-chief of the Rehbar Media Block, expressing confidence that he would play an active role in members’ welfare and future development work.

Sheikh Abdul Waheed, a prominent businessman from Rawalpindi’s Raja Bazaar and an allottee in the media block, received congratulations from senior journalists including Aamir Rafiq Butt and Sohail Malik. Raja Manan, a leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, also extended his congratulations and assured full cooperation, saying he would stand shoulder to shoulder with the media community whenever needed. A bouquet was presented to Sheikh Abdul Waheed as a token of appreciation.

Journalists’ representatives Qaiser Abbasi, Irfan Dogar, Moazzam Shah and Wasim Abbasi were named among the active members expected to work closely with the new leadership to advance the Rehbar Media Block. Sheikh Abdul Waheed reaffirmed his commitment, stating that he and his party would support media colleagues on every forum and contribute to the block’s development and members’ welfare.
