Empowering Actors Through PNCA Theatre Workshop

The three-day PNCA theatre workshop led by Dr Waqar Azeem in Islamabad in January 2026 drew a diverse group of participants, including students, emerging artists, and seasoned professionals. The intensive format encouraged sustained practice and peer learning, reflecting growing interest in structured theatre education across Pakistan.

Sessions combined interactive exercises and practical scene work that emphasized body language, facial expression, voice modulation, imagination and scene creation. Participants also gained hands-on insight into collaborative directing and stage production processes, reinforcing acting as a tool for human expression and social awareness.

Director General PNCA Muhammad Ayoub Jammali praised the programme, saying it set a new benchmark in theatre education by helping attendees enhance technical skills while developing a deeper understanding of theatre’s artistic and social dimensions. The workshop underscored how focused training can strengthen Pakistan’s performing arts community.

Certificates were presented at the close of the event and the award distribution included a memorable poetic contribution by Director Performing Arts Sami Ullah Baloch, delivered in eloquent and expressive words. Participants described the experience as inspiring and transformative, noting the blend of technical mastery and creative vision in the sessions.

PNCA reaffirmed its commitment to organising high-quality training and workshops to promote theatre and cultural education nationwide. The PNCA theatre workshop has contributed tangible gains in critical thinking, artistic awareness and practical capability among participants, helping to sustain and grow local theatre practice.
