Reviving School Hockey Across Pakistan
The Inter Boards Coordination Commission hosted the National Education–Hockey Coordination Committee at the IBCC Secretariat in Islamabad on March 10, 2026 to shape a national strategy for reviving hockey through the education system.
The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah and Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani and attended by Directors of Physical Education from educational boards, representatives of the Pakistan Hockey Federation and former Olympians Hassan Sardar, Islahuddin and Khwaja Junaid.
The Federal Secretary IPC presented the IBCC–PHF School and Inter-Board Hockey Revival Program (2026–2029), a strategic roadmap to rebuild Pakistan’s hockey talent pipeline through schools and boards. The initiative prioritises expanding school hockey, organizing inter-board competitions and creating a clear pathway for young players to progress toward national representation.
Participants welcomed the program and reaffirmed their commitment to work collaboratively across education and sports authorities. A joint Steering Committee that will include former Olympians was formed to oversee implementation of the roadmap and guide coordination between boards and the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
Stakeholders stressed that integrating school hockey into school activities and inter-board calendars will be central to restoring a steady development route for emerging players and strengthening grassroots structures in Pakistan.
