USC Relief Package Begins Under Government Plan

Islamabad, February 04, 2026 — Following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a special relief package for Utility Stores Corporation employees has been approved to provide financial protection to affected workers and their families. The move reflects a government-led effort to deliver USC relief and stabilise livelihoods during the transition.

The agreement was reached at a meeting chaired by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, where officials from the Utility Stores Corporation and representatives of the National Workers Union signed a formal severance and compensation pact. Under the terms, affected employees will receive a comprehensive severance and compensation package agreed by both parties.

Distribution of cheques has already commenced as part of the USC relief rollout. Payments will be disbursed in phases, with 40 percent in the first phase followed by two installments of 30 percent each, and the package also includes annual increments for 2024 and 2025. The staged payment plan is intended to ensure timely and transparent delivery while managing administrative processes.

According to Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, the Government of Pakistan will provide full financial backing and oversight to guarantee that eligible employees receive payments without delay. The majority of employees have voluntarily accepted the package, signalling confidence in the government’s commitment to worker welfare and the effectiveness of the USC relief measures.

Reaffirming the administration’s priorities, officials stressed that protecting workers’ rights and dignity remains central to the Prime Minister’s vision. Providing financial security to affected families has been described as a top priority, and all possible steps are being taken to ensure fairness and stability for the workforce under this relief programme.
