SAARC session activates regional programming
The 62nd Session of the Programming Committee of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation began on 11 February at the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu, Nepal, convening national focal points and senior delegates from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The meeting, held under the Chairmanship of Nepal, runs from 11 to 12 February 2026 and draws senior officials of the Secretariat into detailed planning discussions.
Participants at the SAARC session will work through programming matters aimed at strengthening coordination among member states. Delegates are engaging on scheduling, harmonising regional activities and ensuring that forthcoming initiatives reflect shared priorities across South Asia while maintaining the Secretariat’s guidance and oversight.
Pakistan’s delegation is attending alongside its counterparts, using the forum to align national inputs with regional plans and to coordinate with neighbouring capitals on practical steps for cooperation. The presence of national focal points emphasises the technical and administrative focus of this SAARC session, with an emphasis on actionable program-level collaboration.
The two-day gathering at the SAARC Secretariat provides an opportunity for member states to refine program proposals and agree on timelines and responsibilities, with Secretariat officials facilitating the dialogue to support cohesive regional programming efforts.
