Advancing Faculty Development at University of the Punjab
The University of the Punjab concluded the National Outreach Program for Faculty (NOPF) and the National Outreach Program for Management (NOPM) with a joint closing ceremony at the Institute of Administrative Sciences. Dr. Noor Amna Malik, Managing Director of the National Academy of Higher Education in Islamabad, attended as chief guest and led an interactive session with the Management Officers Training Program that participants described as uplifting and engaging. The two programmes are a concerted effort to strengthen faculty development and management capacity across the campus.
In her remarks Dr. Noor Amna Malik praised the programmes’ execution and commended the Vice Chancellor’s leadership, urging attendees to act as ambassadors of professional growth within their departments. She emphasized the need to apply and cascade learning from the sessions, announced potential international training opportunities, and outlined plans for a specialised programme for Heads of Departments to deepen leadership skills.
The Vice Chancellor described the initiatives as a unique opportunity for growth, encouraging participants to maintain a positive, continuous learning mindset and to embody inclusive values in their professional lives. He also expressed appreciation for the work of Training Coordinator Dr. Sania Malik, who presented an overview of the programmes and acknowledged a PKR 3.9 million grant from NAHE that enabled their successful delivery.
Dr. Amjad Magsi, President of the Academic Staff Association, highlighted the participants’ role in driving constructive change within the University. Representing participants, Dr. Shareh Qazi described the faculty training as reflective and enriching, while Ms. Mehwish Khurshid said the management programme strengthened officers’ sense of belonging and institutional responsibility, reinforcing the aims of faculty development and institutional leadership.
The ceremony concluded with certificate distribution and was attended by senior officers including Dr. Rehan Sheikh, Dr. Amjad Magsi, Dr. Aqil Inam, Dr. Kashif Rathore, Muhammad Muneeb Ur Rehman and Rai Hassan Rauf. The completion of NOPF and NOPM marks another milestone in advancing faculty development, management excellence and leadership capacity at the University of the Punjab.
