Igniting School Spirit at Asas Sports Day
The annual Asas Sports Day at Asas International School F-10 Branch, Islamabad unfolded on Saturday 14 February 2026 with an atmosphere of energy and camaraderie as students, staff and families gathered to celebrate athleticism and teamwork. The ceremony opened with an impressive march-past, followed by the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and the national anthem, after which students took an oath to uphold sportsmanship and integrity throughout the day.
Dr. Muhammad Arshad Zia, Director of Asas International School F-10 Branch, presided over the occasion along with guests Mr. Sadaqat Ali Abbasi and Ms. Saadia Gul. School leaders present included Ms. Safia Jawad (Branch Head), Ms. Sumaya Faisal (Headmistress, Junior Section), Ms. Hina Tashfeen (Headmistress, Senior Section) and Ms. Ibtisam Ubaid (Coordinator, Junior Section). The opening ceremony featured a symbolic torch lighting and balloons released into the sky to signal unity and determination.
Students treated the audience to a range of lively presentations that showcased both discipline and creativity. A preschool welcome performance set a joyful tone, while cheerleading routines and a choir rendition of a sports song amplified school spirit. A martial arts demonstration led by Mr. Kamran drew particular praise for its precision, and the boys’ group performance was applauded for its energy and coordination.
The Asas Sports Day program balanced spectacle with competitive spirit, staging a variety of events for boys and girls including football matches, tug of war and dodge the ball. Winners and runners-up in each competition received medals, recognizing both effort and achievement and reinforcing the role of healthy rivalry in student development.
In her remarks, Ms. Safia Jawad commended students and teachers for their preparations and stressed the value of physical activity alongside academic pursuit. Dr. Muhammad Arshad Zia highlighted how the Asas Sports Day contributes to character building, confidence and leadership, noting that regular participation in sports complements classroom learning and nurtures well-rounded individuals.
The event also encouraged wider community involvement with specially arranged races for parents, teachers and staff, adding a festive and inclusive spirit to the day. The closing moments of the Asas Sports Day emphasized unity, discipline and healthy competition, reflecting the school’s commitment to holistic development and excellence in both academics and co-curricular life.
