Alkhidmat Mobilises Rs10 Million for Chakwal Flood Aid
The Alkhidmat Foundation on Monday handed out relief cheques totalling Rs10 million to 70 families affected by last year’s heavy rains and flooding in Chakwal, part of a focused effort to support economic rehabilitation for the worst hit households. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sara Hayat Gondal, SP Investigation Sajid Hussain Gondal, Alkhidmat Chakwal president Khawaja Usman Siddique, Alkhidmat North Punjab president Raja Rizwan Ahmed, Jamaat-i-Islami Chakwal ameer Irfan Younas and Punjab Bar Council member Chaudhry Tallat Mahmood, along with many residents and beneficiaries.
DC Sara Hayat Gondal said the district administration, backed by the Punjab government, had already provided assistance to families of the deceased and the injured and that a damage assessment survey conducted by the administration was shared with the foundation. After verification, Alkhidmat distributed support to deserving families, and the DC described the foundation’s contribution as a meaningful part of the wider Chakwal flood aid and post-disaster rehabilitation process.
Alkhidmat representatives reiterated the organisation’s commitment to serving communities without discrimination and prioritising long-term recovery. Khawaja Usman Siddique welcomed attendees and thanked donors and the administration for their cooperation. SP Investigation Sajid Hussain Gondal framed the relief as a reflection of social responsibility, while Raja Rizwan Ahmed emphasised that the foundation’s work extends beyond immediate relief towards initiatives in education, healthcare, clean water and emergency response to strengthen rehabilitation.
Officials noted that heavy rains in July last year affected 173 villages across the district and damaged 2,973 houses, and that although funds had been recommended for compensation, many families did not receive adequate support. At the ceremony’s close the Deputy Commissioner personally distributed cheques among beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude and said the assistance would help rebuild homes and restore livelihoods, signalling renewed hope amid ongoing Chakwal flood aid efforts.
