Zamar Shahid Opens Solo Show at PNCA Gallery

The Pakistan National Council of the Arts opened Zamar Shahid’s solo exhibition ZAMO’S at Gallery #6 in the National Art Gallery, Islamabad, in a ceremony attended by Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi and Muhammad Ayoub Jamali, Director General of PNCA, along with artists, students and cultural guests. The inauguration took place on Thursday 7 May 2026 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Zamar Shahid, originally from Balochistan and a Fine Arts graduate of BUITEMS, presents a body of work that negotiates tradition and contemporary practice while engaging questions of cultural identity. The exhibition shows how the artist blends classical miniature aesthetics with experimental approaches to painting, establishing a distinct visual language that resonates with local audiences.

The show highlights Zamar Shahid’s inventive techniques, including canvas floral work, tear and fire methods and what she describes as engineering painting, alongside intricately executed gold-leaf miniature depictions of world mosques. These detailed miniatures emphasize precision and craftsmanship and underscore a continuing engagement with Pakistan’s artistic heritage.

During the opening the Chief Guest praised the creative vision and technical excellence on display and reiterated PNCA’s commitment to supporting emerging artists. The Minister noted that young artists like Zamar Shahid play an important role in promoting Pakistan’s cultural legacy through contemporary expression and that institutional platforms are vital for fostering innovation and dialogue.

Zamar Shahid’s work has been shown on national and international stages and has earned recognition including the Maymar-e-Watan Award and an Active Citizenship Certificate from the British Council. Her practice continues to encourage cultural exchange and serves as an inspiration for young women pursuing careers in the arts.

The exhibition remains open to the public until 14 May 2026 with visiting hours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily at Gallery #6, PNCA, National Art Gallery, Islamabad. Visitors are invited to experience the blend of miniature tradition and contemporary experimentation that defines Zamar Shahid’s work.
