Runway Safety Team Meeting Enhances Standards at BKIAP Peshawar

A dedicated Runway Safety Team (RST) meeting was recently held at Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIAP) in Peshawar, bringing together stakeholders from aviation operations, security, airlines, air force, and ground handling agencies to enhance airside safety and operational standards.
The meeting was chaired by the Airport Manager and Chief Operating Officer, while the Manager Airside oversaw proceedings. Representatives from key stakeholders including the Deputy Airport Manager, Senior Air Traffic Control Officer (SATCO) from the Pakistan Air Force, Airport Security Force (ASF), Chairman of the Airline Operators Committee (AOC), airline representatives, ground handling agencies, and relevant Pakistan Aviation Authority (PAA) sections participated actively in the deliberations.
Agenda topics addressed at the meeting included a comprehensive review of ongoing safety performance metrics, detailed assessments of runway and taxiway incursions and excursions, bird hazards and associated environmental concerns, implementation of apron and other airside operational rules, issues concerning Foreign Object Debris (FOD), and further general safety issues relevant to runway and airside operations.
During discussions, participants provided valuable insights and constructive feedback. All representatives expressed a firm commitment to collaborative and proactive follow-up actions, emphasizing collective responsibility and cooperation aimed at further improving runway safety standards and overall airport safety performance at BKIAP.
