Islamabad Police Using Drone Cameras for Better Traffic Management

Islamabad Traffic Police have decided to deploy drone technology to better monitor traffic conditions across the city, aiming for strict compliance with traffic laws and effective management of congested roads.

In pursuit of ensuring smoother traffic flow and prompt enforcement of laws, Islamabad Traffic Police have announced the introduction of drone cameras. The decision comes following specific directives from Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of his vision for an organised, technology-driven traffic management system in the federal capital.

Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad, Captain (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider explained that drones will initially be deployed to monitor some of Islamabad’s busiest arteries, including the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway. In the subsequent phase, drone surveillance coverage will be extended to additional major roads and sector-level thoroughfares throughout the city.

Captain (R) Haider stated that drone cameras will play a crucial role in promptly identifying violations of traffic regulations, allowing swift corrective actions to be implemented. Additionally, drone technology will enable traffic officers to rapidly spot areas experiencing congestion, prompting a quicker, more efficient response from dedicated traffic management teams.

Through this technological advancement, Islamabad Traffic Police aim to ensure strict adherence to traffic rules, ease road congestion, and improve overall commuting conditions for the capital’s residents.
