FJWU Sports Events Promote Inclusion and International Collaboration

Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) celebrated sports excellence, inclusivity, and international collaboration by hosting two significant events: the Pak-Korea Taekwondo Training Program Uniform Distribution Ceremony and the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the 2025 Inter-Departmental and Inter-House Sports Competitions. These events highlighted the university’s commitment to empowering students through sports and fostering international partnerships.

The ceremonies opened formally with a recitation from the Quran, followed by welcoming remarks from Deputy Director Sports, Dr. Tasawar Ejaz. Dr. Ejaz emphasized the diversity and value of sports opportunities both within Pakistan and at the international level, encouraging students to actively engage in these enriching activities.

A key highlight of the day was the distribution of Taekwondo uniforms to FJWU students participating in the Pak-Korea Taekwondo Training Program. Additionally, valuable training equipment generously provided by World Taekwondo Headquarters and the Korean Embassy in Pakistan was officially presented to the university. A vibrant demonstration of Taekwondo techniques by university students showcased their skills and captivated attendees.

During the Prize Distribution Ceremony, students who achieved success in the university’s Inter-Departmental and Inter-House Sports Competitions received shields and certificates. These awards recognized the athletes’ skills, unwavering dedication, and commendable team spirit that contributed to their victories in various sporting events.

The event was attended by distinguished guests, with FJWU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Bushra Mirza (recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance awards) serving as the Chief Guest, accompanied by the Guest of Honour, Korean Master Dispatcher, Mr. Seong Oh Choi. Both guests commended students for their performances and encouraged them to pursue excellence through sports activities.

Recognition was also given to members of the Sports Committee whose efforts contributed substantially to the success of the events. Committee members appreciated included Dr. Farhana and Dr. Nazia from Islamic Studies, Ms. Durkhan from BCA, Ms. Sonia representing Anthropology, Dr. Adeela Rehman from Sociology, and Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain, the Sports Representative from Computer Sciences.

In promoting inclusive sports at the university level, a special tribute honored the remarkable achievements of special student athlete, Ms. Nimra. She is notably the first special student from FJWU to represent Pakistan in the Pak-Australia Women Blind Cricket Tournament. Her selection for the T20 World Cup training camp positions her as a trailblazer for inclusivity in sports activities at FJWU and nationally.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Bushra Mirza concluded the ceremony by expressing heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Seong Oh Choi, the Korean Embassy, and World Taekwondo Headquarters for their ongoing support and partnership. Their generous cooperation continues to significantly enhance the university’s capacity to offer exceptional sports programs.

Through initiatives such as these, Fatima Jinnah Women University demonstrates its dedication toward building an empowered culture of excellence, inclusivity, and international collaboration in sports.
