PMAS-AAUR VC Visits Pakistan’s First Livestock Center

Vice Chancellor of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Professor Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, visited the newly built National Center for Livestock Breeding, Genetics & Genomics, Pakistan’s first research facility of its kind. The visit showcased the university’s commitment to advancing livestock research and underscored the importance of the center for the country’s agricultural sector.

Accompanied by the university registrar, deans, directors, and faculty members, Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman toured the center’s laboratories, classrooms, and examined the modern equipment that has been installed. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Director of Planning & Development, and Dr. Ghulam Bilal, Central Project Director, provided a detailed briefing on the state-of-the-art facility, outlining the features and noting that some final finishing work will be completed soon.

The Vice Chancellor commended the project team for their dedicated efforts, as well as the support from various university departments. He highlighted the significance of establishing specialized centers like this across Pakistan to support the growth of the livestock industry, improve productivity, and boost the national GDP. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman also emphasized that the facility stands out as a unique national resource, paving the way for postgraduate students and researchers to engage in advanced studies and research in the critical fields of livestock breeding, genetics, and genomics.
