Islamabad authorities have arrested a man identified as Syed Rauf during a major operation against illegal wall chalking in the Sarai Kharbuza area. The crackdown, initiated by Magistrate Sangjani Raja Shoaib under orders from the Deputy Commissioner, encountered strong resistance, including a physical altercation with police and threats to administrative officials.
The enforcement action was part of a broader campaign to uphold Section 144, which imposes a city-wide prohibition on unauthorized wall chalking and graffiti. Syed Rauf reportedly used public spaces to promote his private business, despite several formal warnings from the magistrate to remove the offending advertisements. When approached once more by the regulatory team, Syed Rauf allegedly refused to comply and issued severe threats against the magistrate and administrative staff. The confrontation intensified when Rauf’s personal guards physically resisted police efforts, resulting in a direct clash at the scene.
Despite the disruption, police succeeded in detaining Syed Rauf. Officials indicated that, in the chaos, several individuals involved in the incident managed to escape. Law enforcement is currently working to identify and apprehend those who fled.
