Strengthening Water Security in Pakistan with Nature-Based Solutions

WWF-Pakistan and the Australian Government are celebrating four years of partnership under the Australia–Pakistan Water Security Initiative, a collaboration focused on enhancing urban water resilience across the country. The milestone was marked by a gathering of 34 stakeholders from all five provinces, who convened to discuss the vision for water sensitive cities in Pakistan and examine the role of integrated, nature-based solutions in addressing water security challenges.
Throughout their partnership, WWF-Pakistan and the Australian Government have promoted strategies that integrate environmental, social, and technological approaches to managing water in urban settings. The recent stakeholder event provided a platform for representatives from government, civil society, and the private sector to share insights and best practices, reinforcing the importance of collective action in safeguarding Pakistan’s water resources.
Organizers highlighted the ongoing commitment to fostering partnerships, encouraging knowledge exchange, and expanding the use of sustainable water management models nationwide. Both WWF-Pakistan and the Australian Government affirmed their dedication to building a water-secure future for Pakistan by scaling up effective solutions and engaging with a wide range of partners.
