Advancing Gender Justice for Women in Balochistan
UN Women Pakistan met with Justice Amir Nawaz Rana of the Balochistan High Court to advance dialogue on women’s access to justice, survivor-centered legal mechanisms, and the Women Lawyers’ Retainer Initiative. The discussion emphasised practical steps to strengthen gender justice by ensuring survivors receive both legal protection and empathetic support within the judicial process.
The Women Lawyers’ Retainer Initiative is being championed as a means to empower women lawyers to represent survivors effectively and consistently. By supporting dedicated legal professionals, the initiative aims to remove barriers to timely and equitable representation and to reinforce a survivor-centered approach that upholds dignity and rights.
Through continued collaboration between UN Women Pakistan and the Balochistan High Court, efforts to embed gender-responsive practices in courts and legal services are being prioritised. These partnerships seek to deepen access to remedies for women and girls across Balochistan and to build sustainable pathways toward broader gender justice in the province.
