Institutionalizing Ethiopia Pakistan Relations for Stronger Partnerships

Ethiopia and Pakistan are seeking to deepen their partnership by formalizing cooperation across key sectors such as the economy, education, and health. The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ethiopia’s Ambassador and Special Envoy, and Dr. Kazim Niaz, Pakistan’s Federal Secretary for Economic Affairs.

During their meeting, Ambassador Dr. Jemal emphasized the importance of institutionalizing the relationship between the two countries to build on existing collaboration. He noted that bilateral ties have been steadily growing, particularly in trade, investment, aviation, tourism, and cultural exchange.

The ambassador also briefed Dr. Niaz about the upcoming 5th Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition, set to be held in Addis Ababa. He described the Ethiopian capital as a key diplomatic center in Africa, regularly hosting major international conferences and exhibitions that help foster multilateral cooperation.

Dr. Kazim Niaz expressed his support for the drive to strengthen cooperation at an institutional level. He recognized Ethiopia’s economic achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali and pledged Pakistan’s continuing commitment to enhancing mutually beneficial relations between the two nations.
