Pakistan Explores Boosting Local Medical Manufacturing

Pakistan’s Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has underscored the government’s commitment to boosting local production of medical devices and pharmaceutical products during a meeting with the Chairman of the Shendon Group. The talks were also attended by Federal Health Secretary Syed Waqar ul Hassan and centered on a collaborative approach to strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare sector through increased investment and technology sharing.

During discussions, both sides explored ways to enhance the manufacturing capacity for medical technologies within Pakistan. They focused on initiatives aimed at producing more medical devices and medicines locally, facilitating the transfer of advanced technology, and attracting foreign direct investment into the country’s healthcare industry.

Minister Kamal assured the Shendon Group of comprehensive support from the government for companies ready to invest in the medical equipment and pharmaceutical sectors. He emphasized that Pakistan is committed to providing all necessary facilities to foster a favorable environment for investors.

Highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts, the Minister said that the Ministry of National Health Services is actively working to ensure the accessibility of high-quality medical equipment and medicines. The government aims to reduce Pakistan’s dependence on imports in order to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for the country’s population through increased local production and innovation.
