Pakistan and Bangladesh Seek Closer Energy and Minerals Ties

Pakistan and Bangladesh are seeking to expand their partnership in the energy and mineral sectors, as leaders from both countries met to discuss opportunities for collaboration. The talks highlighted plans to increase cooperation in areas such as limestone, coal, and petroleum products, aimed at boosting economic growth and energy security for both nations.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik hosted the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan, Md. Iqbal Hussain, at the Ministry of Petroleum. Both representatives emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and identified key sectors for future joint ventures.
During the meeting, Minister Malik reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with Bangladesh. He stated that the Pakistani government is eager to support partnerships that would provide mutual benefits, especially in resource exploration and energy trade.
Discussions focused on potential avenues for joint exploration projects and the trade of minerals and petroleum products. The two sides also stressed the value of knowledge-sharing and new investment opportunities to tap into the full potential of these sectors.
Bangladesh’s High Commissioner expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s initiative to foster greater economic and energy cooperation. He noted that such collaboration is crucial for promoting regional stability and prosperity, and reiterated Bangladesh’s strong interest in expanding trade and investment with Pakistan.
