Fighting Illiteracy in Pakistan with Khushhali Book Korners

The French Embassy in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Center for Law and Justice, has expanded its efforts to combat illiteracy by inaugurating a new Khushhali Book Korner in Jaranwala, following the earlier establishment of such a space in Lahore. The initiative aims to provide educational opportunities for children of sanitation workers who often lack access to formal schooling.
The Khushhali Book Korners serve as safe and welcoming spaces where children can immerse themselves in reading and cultivate their curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. These reading corners are specifically designed for children from marginalized communities, offering them a chance to discover the joys of books and learning in an environment where they feel valued and supported.
The newest Khushhali Book Korner was launched on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day, symbolizing hope and resilience for the communities it serves. Through this project, the French Embassy and its partners seek to empower the younger generation by making reading a powerful tool for education and personal development. The initiative underscores the shared commitment of France and Pakistan to promoting literacy and equal educational opportunities for all children.
