RDA Briefs PSMG Officers During Training Visit

Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) welcomed officers from the Public Sector Management and Governance (PSMG) training course for a practical learning visit, aimed at enhancing their understanding of urban development and public service delivery. Conducted by the Punjab Institute of Management and Professional Development, the course included 43 officers from various districts of Punjab, representing roles such as Assistant Directors, Tehsil Population Welfare Officers, Demographers, Deputy District Account Officers, and Assistant District Attorneys.

During the session, Additional Director General of RDA, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, provided participants with a detailed briefing on the authority’s administrative structure, key functions, and the major challenges it faces in managing urban growth. He discussed the history of the RDA and highlighted major ongoing and upcoming projects, including the Ring Road Project and the Nullah Lai Project, along with other development initiatives under consideration.

Khan emphasized the importance of such training courses for government officials, noting that they offer valuable insights into the operational frameworks of development authorities and foster practical knowledge essential for effective governance. Participants also had the opportunity to interact with senior RDA officials, including Director Administration and Finance Qazi Sohaib Ahmad and Deputy Director Administration Iftikhar Ali.

The visit provided the trainees with a meaningful opportunity to observe how integrated planning and strong governance play crucial roles in urban development. According to RDA officials, the experience is expected to reinforce best practices in public service and encourage collaborative approaches to tackling the challenges of urbanization.
