Punjab Wildlife Census Project Launches for Conservation Data

Punjab Launches Wildlife Census Project to Guide Conservation Efforts
The Punjab Wildlife Census Project was officially inaugurated today, with the Director General of Wildlife & Parks in attendance. This new initiative is designed to comprehensively assess the diversity and status of wildlife species and their habitats across five designated zones in the province.
Focusing especially on urban and peri-urban areas, the census aims to address concerns about habitat loss and diminishing wildlife populations. By identifying key threats and mapping species distribution, the project intends to provide a clearer picture of regional biodiversity.
Systematic surveys conducted under the project will generate critical data on local wildlife. Officials say these findings will be essential for formulating effective conservation strategies and informed policy-making, ensuring better preservation and management of Punjab’s natural heritage in the future.
