PM Shehbaz Sharif Attends SCO Summit and Strengthens China Ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Tianjin, China, to lead Pakistan’s delegation at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and participate in several key events, including the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Victory in the War of Resistance. His visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties with China and boost economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning and Development Dr. Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and other senior officials, Prime Minister Sharif was welcomed at Tianjin Airport by Chinese officials, including Sun Meijun of the General Administration of Customs and Yu Yunlin of the Tianjin Municipal People’s Congress, as well as the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi.
During his stay, Prime Minister Sharif will attend and address the SCO Council of Heads of State summit. He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang to discuss various areas of cooperation and mutual interest.
In addition to official meetings, Prime Minister Sharif will engage with top Chinese business leaders and chair the second Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference in Beijing. This conference is expected to explore new opportunities and initiatives aimed at strengthening economic and investment relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister Sharif is also expected to meet with leaders from other member states attending the SCO summit, further promoting regional collaboration and dialogue.
