German Consul Praises Rotary Polio Efforts in Pakistan

Germany’s Consulate General in Karachi has praised Rotary International for its sustained efforts to eradicate polio in Pakistan, highlighting the importance of continued international and local collaboration to achieve a polio-free country. Consul General Thomas E. Schultze commended Rotary’s dedication and underlined the shared goal of protecting children through vaccination and public-health outreach.
Polio remains a public-health priority in Pakistan, where targeted vaccination campaigns, surveillance and community engagement are essential to interrupt transmission. Health authorities and partners focus on reaching every child, especially in hard-to-access or underserved areas, to ensure comprehensive immunization coverage.
Rotary International has been a prominent partner in polio eradication efforts, supporting vaccination drives, advocacy and local mobilization. Its activities complement government-led programs and international assistance, helping to raise awareness, deliver vaccines and monitor progress on the ground.
Consul General Schultze’s recognition of Rotary’s work underscores the role diplomatic missions and international organizations can play in public-health initiatives. German support, alongside that of other international partners, reinforces the resources and diplomatic backing needed to sustain vaccination efforts and community outreach.
Achieving a polio-free Pakistan will depend on continued coordination between governments, NGOs, international partners and local communities to maintain high vaccination coverage, strengthen disease surveillance and address remaining barriers to access.
