Celebrating Seerat Conference in Ankara
On 20 September 2025 the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara, together with the Pakistan Embassy International Study Group, hosted an international Seerat conference to commemorate the 1500th blessed birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The gathering highlighted the Prophet’s timeless message of mercy, empathy and justice and brought together diplomats, scholars and community representatives in a spirit of reflection and dialogue.
The event was attended by senior envoys including Ambassador M. Amanul Haq of Bangladesh, Ambassador Abdul Raheem of the Maldives, Ambassador Nadir Yousif Eltayeb of Sudan and former Turkish Consul General to Karachi Mr. Cemal Sangu, along with delegations from the UAE, Iran, Azerbaijan and Egypt. Their presence underscored the Seerat conference’s international resonance and the shared interest of brotherly nations in promoting interfaith understanding.
Eminent scholars delivered thoughtful addresses on the relevance of the Prophet’s life for contemporary challenges. Prof. Dr. Mirzahan Hizal and Dr. Saban Ali Duzgun reflected on the ethical dimensions of the seerat, while Pakistan’s Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid delivered the keynote, calling the Prophet’s seerat “living guidance” that urges societies to move beyond narrow interests and work for collective good.
The programme was marked by soulful recitations of naats that lent a dignified and spiritual tone to the proceedings. Speakers emphasized how the lessons of mercy and fraternity in the Prophet’s example can inform efforts to address injustice and build cohesive communities, a message that resonated with Pakistani participants and international guests alike.
In his keynote Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid said, “The Prophet’s seerat is living guidance. It challenges us to rise above narrow interests and work for the collective good of humanity. It calls us to spread peace in the world, to show mercy in a time of harshness, and to uphold justice in an age of inequality.” His remarks framed the Seerat conference as both a commemoration and a call to practical action grounded in compassion.
The Seerat conference concluded with a renewed commitment among attendees to embody the Prophet’s teachings in daily life and public service, reinforcing the Embassy of Pakistan’s role in promoting values of harmony, compassion and unity across communities in Turkey and beyond.
