Streamlining Medical Device Registration in Pakistan
The Health Device Association held its annual meeting with Syed Mustafa Kamal, Federal Minister for Health, attending as guest of honour and addressing the gathering. He stressed that Pakistan’s progress depends on fair distribution of resources rather than reliance on development loans and emphasized that true leadership is measured by character and service to the public.
Officials highlighted a major regulatory improvement: the medical device registration process is now completed within 20 days. This faster timeline is being presented as an important step toward greater industrial transparency and bringing Pakistan’s regulatory framework closer to modern international standards. Stakeholders at the meeting noted that streamlined medical device registration will help manufacturers and healthcare providers plan more effectively while accelerating patient access to approved technologies.
During the event, several prominent experts in the medical device field were honoured with lifetime awards in recognition of their contributions to the sector. The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to fair resource allocation and continued regulatory reforms that support innovation, quality and accountability in Pakistan’s health technology landscape.
