Stepping Up Polio Eradication Efforts in Pakistan
On 24 October 2025 in Islamabad Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif posed for a group photo with the team of the Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme on World Polio Day, a public symbol of continued focus on polio eradication across the country.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the dedication of programme staff and frontline workers, and expressed appreciation for their role in protecting children. He underlined the need for sustained outreach, immunisation activities and vigilance to support the long-term goal of polio eradication in Pakistan.
The image of the national leadership and health teams together served as a reminder of the collective responsibility at federal and provincial levels and the importance of community cooperation. The gathering reinforced commitment to strengthen surveillance and vaccination efforts and to maintain momentum in the fight against polio.
